MATCH PREVIEW | Rhinos Women aim to extend winning run vs Barrow
Heading into round four of the Betfred Women's Super League season off the back of a major result against York Valkyrie last time out, Leeds Rhinos Women look to extend their winning run against Barrow Raiders at the Speed Competition's Stadium on Sunday, kick off 2.30pm.
The Rhinos have beaten the Raiders in every Super League meeting between the clubs since 2024 and can close the gap to St Helens and Wigan at the top of the standings with victory on the road.
Here's your match preview:
Opposition
Amanda Wilkinson's Barrow Raiders side find themselves planted at the bottom of the table as their three-year stay in the Women's Super League competition is in jeopardy.
At the halfway point of the first half of the Women's Super League, before the competition splits later in July, the Raiders are yet to win a game in any competition, having fallen to teams both in the top half and their closest competition in the bottom four. After bowing out of the Challenge Cup with 54-12 and 68-6 defeats against York and St Helens, Barrow subsequently lost out to the Saints in their opening game of the campaign as Leah Cottier was the sole try scorer in a 42-6 home loss - Danielle McGifford crossed four times for the opponent that day. Another high-scoring result against the Challenge Cup winners Wigan saw Denis Bett's side take a 74-6 result away from the Speed Competition's Stadium, before last week's trip to face Featherstone Rovers saw Barrow lose out again in a tight 16-10 final score.
Long-serving player Vanessa Temple continues to lead the side as she has two tries in four games in 2026, as the same team from 2026 have largely been retained. Despite players departing in the off-season, Wilkinson has been able to welcome back pivotal names Emma Hutchinson and Sam Norman after the duo missed the 2025 season to go travelling. Both return to bolster the Raiders' backline options, whilst the club also confirmed Blossom Howell and Fern Henderson as new faces for the team in 2026. Hutchinson notably scored on her return to action against York in the Cup.
This weekend's game against the Rhinos will be another test as the side prepares for away trips to Leigh and Huddersfield this month - both opportunities to pick up league points. A final home match against York concludes the first half of the season for the Raiders, who look ahead to Super League survival in the second half of 2026.
